Endoscopy is a non-invasive procedure that we are pleased to offer to our patients. Essentially an endoscope is a long thin tube with a small camera and light at the end that allows us to view real-time images of the inside of the throat, trachea, esophagus, and stomach of an anesthetized animal. Often conditions can be diagnosed based on these findings, preventing more invasive testing. In the unfortunate instance that an animal swallows something other than food, sometimes that item can be identified and removed with an endoscope.
